1. This tournament will follow a Double Elimination process for divisions with four or more competitors. Divisions smaller than four competitors will be held in a round robin format. If/when you lose a match you will be inserted into a Consolation Bracket to compete for 3rd place. The competitors that continue in the Winners Bracket who make it to the Championship Round will be competing for 1st and 2nd place. Two person divisions will compete best 2 out of 3. If there are no other competitors registered in your division you may be placed in another division as long as you and/or your coach has agreement. Team Points will not be awarded for divisions with 1 competitor.
3. All competitors must weigh-in the day before at a designated weigh in center or the morning of the tournament at 9AM.
4. Each competitor must submit an on-line registration form and sign a waiver at weigh ins.
5. No advantages will be given. If the match is tied at the end of regulation, there will be a 30 second sudden death overtime for Kids, and a 2 minute sudden death overtime for all others. The first competitor to score points will be the winner. If the score is still tied at the end of sudden death subsequent sudden deaths will continue until a point is scored.
7. All competitors must wear a CLEAN Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu GI (Kimono), Competitors will compete with regulation GIs only. A regulation GI is four fingers cuff clearance and sleeves are to be no shorter than 4” from wrist between wrist and sleeve of GI.
8. All male competitors are not allowed to wear clothing underneath the GI such as T-Shirts, Rash Guard, Sweatpants, etc…
9. We will do our best to pair up Kids according to weight and age no more than 2 years apart. For example ages groups may be (6 & 7) (8 & 9) (10 & 11) (12 & 13) (14 & 15). We will do our best to not mix girl and boy competitors, but it may be necessary. Kids need to be registered according to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belt rankings (White, Yellow, Orange, Green). Karate or Tae Kwon Do belt rankings may be the same color, but are not equivalent to the skill level as jiu-jitsu. Consult your Jiu-Jitsu instructor before registering your child to avoid your child being entered into the wrong division.
10. We reserve the right to refuse service.
11. We reserve the right to close the tournament registration at any time in order to benefit our event organization.

NO Biting, Hair pulling or Eye-Gouging
NO fingers to the throat
NO Small Joint Manipulation (Fingers, Toes, etc)
NO Pressure points
NO Hands, Knees or Elbows in the face
NO Stalling or running from the fight
NO Swearing or obscene gestures
Hygiene: At weigh-ins all competitors will be checked for communicable diseases, not limited to but including ringworm, staph, herpes and impetigo.
Illegal Techniques for Kids up to 15 years old

NO Ezequiel Chokes
NO Attacks below the waist (i.e. NO Foot Locks, Heel Hooks, or Knee Bars of any kind)

NO Scissors Takedown
NO Biceps Locks
(The referee reserves the right to stop a choke if the neck or spine is compromised)
Illegal Techniques for ALL WHITE, BLUE, & PURPLE BELTS (ages 16 and over)

NO Toe Hold ankle locks (Figure 4)

Penalties:
Stalling: Holding or running away from the fight, or holding both sleeves with a closed guard. (more than 30 seconds)
1st incident – warning
2nd incident – 1 point to your opponent
3rd incident – disqualification
Taking down your opponent and running away from the fight on the ground
1st incident – 2 points to your opponent
2nd incident – disqualification
The following will result in immediate disqualification:
• Picking up your opponent while on the ground and slamming them
• Applying illegal techniques
• Unsportsmanlike conduct against the other competitor, referee, coach, or public
• Arguing with the referee (all disputes must be taken to the head table)
• Fleeing the mat to avoid submission
Scoring and Time Limits
Points:
• Takedowns – 2 points
• Sweeps – 2 points
• Knee on the stomach – 2 points
• Passing the full guard – 3 points
• Mount – 4 points
• Back Mount with hooks – 4 points
Victory By:
• Submission
• Points
• Referees decision
• Sudden death in case of tied score at the end of the match
Time Limits
Length of BJJ Matches:
White: 5 minutes
Blue: 6 minutes
Purple: 7 minutes
Brown: 8 minutes
Black: 10 Minutes
Kids 3 minutes
Juniors: 4 minutes
Seniors (30-39) / Masters (40+): White/Blue Belts 4 minutes • Purple/Brown Belts 6 minutes • Black Belts 7 minutes
Competitors: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place will receive medals and score team points
Team: The top 3 Adult Teams and top 3 Kid’s Teams will be presented a team award.
Note: Teams are based upon the information provided on the registration forms. It is your responsibility to make sure you correctly put your Team/School name on your registration form.
